Do Generations Travel Differently???

Came across this article in the Denver Post (12/1/05) http://www.denverpost.com/business/ci_3266993

It raises an interesting question.  As a member of Generation X do i have a travel “profile”?

Okay, so I hate golf and I have the faux-nature and the like, and I do not plan my trips months ahead.  So, as is obvious for anyone who knows me, I am not a baby boomer.

But, I dont really care about “Urban and synthetic” either.  If you are able to pull up the webpage (a copy of it below) you can see the pics of the two gals the story uses.  These people look nothing like me. So am I a GenX traveler?

One of the issues I see is that we keep trying to disect people into these groups so we can “sell our product” - this is true of such things as the military and churches as well. Sure, I am more Xer than Boomer in my travel...but if the travel industry thinks they can market to me the way they do to Miss Norma Ryan...they have another things coming.

Actually, they should have another class, the Xer with kids.  At this point going to the Nickelodian hotels is looking more and more likely, unless i can talk the kids into falling in love with Civil War history and the English Reformation, in which case its time to go to Gettysburg and Oxford.

Does this story resonate with you?  Are you a traveler without a demographic profile?  What are we to do?
