Back up and Posting – Soon to be Dr. Christopher Morton
Why no posts since August???
Well I have not posted in several months, and there are three main reasons. First off, I didn’t want to get drawn into election coverage. If you read any of my postings you will see that I am a conservative politically, though what I call a peace and justice conservative, or what Rod Dreher has wonderfully called a “Crunchy Con.” Given that, I did not want to spend time trying to defend a Republican party that stood for very little, especially when some of the best election comments came from Democrats this year. Let me be honest, I and many other conservative are there to be won over by either party, but the Democrats will need to boot out their nutcases (thank God the John Bircher Society members are long since considered anathema to Republicans) and do more than talk about a good game but really put out the effort to do enact their values.
Second, I had shoulder surgery on September 11 (think I will remember that date?). It was successful, but its only been in the past three weeks that sitting in front of a keyboard was something that didn’t hurt like heck.
The third and main reason though is that I promised my wife that I would not do anything extra until the PhD thesis was complete. Well, aside from re-reading it one more time, it is done. I defended in October, successfully, with only a request for some very minor changes. So, its done, and I am back on-line.
At some point in the future I will put down my thoughts on what is like to do a PhD and how my experiences have changed me. But that is for another day. Right now, there are more pressing things to write about.
