Another Post on Why Hugh Hewitt Is the Best
I will write more about the meeting of Hugh Hewitt later today when i can hook my camera up (got a pic with him - too cool).
Last night though he, in his great humility, said I loved the show because the great guests he has...and yes, it is true to an extent.
But I encourage you to go to the website today and read his interviews with Max Boot, with Lawrence Wright, with Melanie Phillips. What makes Hugh so great is the way he interviews. He asks the right questions, peeling away areas of mere agreement and getting to the guests core assumptions. That is what makes his times with folks like Christopher Hitchens, with whom Hugh has many areas of agreement, so phenomenal - becauase they do not share the underlying assumptions and this gives Hugh’s audiences, those who may disagree with him, the chance to move to his side on things by realizing the areas where they share assumptions with the guests.
The transcripts are here. Read them or download the interview via podcasts.

This week he has totally challenged the country to take very seriously this whole war on terror. Osama Bin Laden years back said that people follow the strong horse not the weak horse. Losing in Iraq is not merely losing one battle in the War on Terror. It is making us the weak horse - a position that will take a long time to overcome.
So, as Hugh’s show has made clear this week: while it may be fun to focus on Sheryl Crow and her obviously non-joke toilet paper idea, or gun control after Va Tech, or Rosie’s “Was she fired or not” dilemna, the issue of whether or not we are going to win in Iraq and retain our status as a strong horse is the one that matters.
As Mark Steyn has made clear in his new book:
The demography makes it clear that this is not a short-term situation, but a full generation one. We want to get the majority of Muslims on the side of liberty, democracy, and justice - but they need to see who the strong horse is. It is not Western Europe. Will it be America? That question is what Hugh was asking this week - and it the question before the whole nation today.
That is why Hugh is #1 in the world of talk shows.
