A Sign of the Apocalypse?
Sports Illustrated has this great little small column they do: "Signs the Apocalypse is upon us". Well, maybe we need this for happenings outside the world of sports. Here is my first nominee....Today’s Daily Telegraph (London), features this article:
Tycoon spends £6m on daughter’s party

No, really, the guy who made millions on body armour spent the equivelent of $10 million US Dollars on his daughters bat mitzvah. No, I know that the “coming of age” in the Jewish community is important, but come on, $10 million???
Truly this is a sign of the coming Apocalypse! If this gentleman is a conservative politcally, then wouldnt this money have been better spent rolling it back into his business so he could create more jobs and thus life more people out of poverty? If he is a liberal, think how many homes or businesses this could have created in Rwanda, Tanzania, or even New Orleanes.
Hey, I love a good party. So did Jesus, which is why he didnt just make a couple of extra bottles of wine at the wedding of Cana, but literally gallons of extra wine. But, come on, you do not need to spend $10 million on your daugher’s bat mitzvah to make her feel special. When money replaced genuine attention and affection, then we really can say that love has a price, though admitedly it is beyond the scope of most of us.
